JOOLA Perseus Pro V Review (2026)

Last updated: March 2026

Tested March 2026 Score 8.7/10 Best for Players who want the Pro IV's power with a more predictable, controlled response
QUICK ANSWER

The JOOLA Ben Johns Perseus Pro V 16mm is a refinement of the popular Pro IV, not a revolution. For most players, the Pro IV at $250 is the smarter buy.

The Verdict

A more polished Perseus — at a price.

More planted, more predictable. Less raw pop than the Pro IV. After thorough on-court evaluation, the JOOLA Perseus Pro V landed in the upper tier of the paddles we tested in 2026.

If you're comparing it against other foam-core paddles, it's one of several great foam core paddles we've played this year.

On-Court Feel

The KineticFrame technology stores momentum in the throat and releases it on impact. In practice this makes the Pro V feel more planted and predictable than the Pro IV. Drives still have serious authority but the response is smoother. The trade-off is that the instant pop that made the Pro IV feel electric is slightly dampened.

Performance & Testing

The JOOLA Perseus Pro V went through our standard on-court protocol - drills, rec play, and at least one tournament match. Scores reflect consensus feedback, not a single reviewer's opinion.

Grit & Durability

Same Carbon Friction Surface as the Pro IV. The 12-month plus 3-replacement warranty is a meaningful improvement. JOOLA's core durability track record is still worth monitoring.

Who It's For

Players who already love the Perseus shape and want a more consistent, controlled version.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • More predictable than the Pro IV
  • Better soft-game control
  • 12 months + 3 replacements warranty
  • Dual certified (USAP + UPA-A)

Cons

  • $50 more than Pro IV for a marginal upgrade
  • Less instant pop than Pro IV
  • JOOLA durability history worth monitoring

Bottom Line

A small upgrade at a big price.

The Pro V is good, but the Pro IV at $250 is the smarter buy for most players.
